Our Employment Proposition
At TOWER Australia, our people are at the heart of our success. We recognise that our people are our primary source of competitive advantage and longer-term sustainability. We also appreciate that as a company it's important that we remain focused on fostering people excellence in all areas of our business, to promote diversity and to retain valuable talent so that we are well equipped to meet the current and future needs of our business partners and customers.
We believe that we have a role to play in promoting and supporting balance for our people by providing an environment that enables them to achieve a healthy balance between work, home and family.
At TOWER Australia we work to foster performance across our business by maintaining a strong alignment between our people and the goals, Values, structures, culture, and people practices of our organisation.
Our people strategy is built around seven key integrated areas that work to promote organisational capability, employee commitment and engagement.
Talent Sourcing
We work to a simple principle of Right People, Right Opportunity, Right Time. By integrating contemporary approaches to talent sourcing, talent management and work place flexibility, we are working to strengthen our ability to source and retain valuable talent in a competitive skills market. In 2009 we launched a new suite of employee selection assessments. Career growth and development opportunities are a reality at TOWER Australia and we actively promote and support internal career moves wherever possible.
Employment Branding
We are committed to developing an attractive employment proposition and regularly benchmarking it against our competitors and the broader market. 2010 will see us implement a number of new employment brand initiatives including a redesign of our internet and intranet pages and the publishing of a new Corporate Responsibility, Corporate Giving and Community Policy.
Leadership Development
We believe strong capable leadership is critical in developing a strong and stable performance culture. By taking a considered and structured approach to developing and managing our leaders at all levels, we work to equip them to rally and lead our people around business strategies and goals. Our 12 month EQUIP Leadership development program sits at the heart of our leadership development strategy and continues to deliver great results. In 2010 we will be expanding the reach of our EQUIP Program to include the delivery of mastery classes for our leaders based on high interest topics such as coaching, communication and managing for performance.
Culture
We are purposefully building a people culture that drives increasing levels of employee engagement, commitment, innovation and collaboration. In 2009 initiatives included the launch of new Ambition, Mission and Values for the Company, the TOWERfest employee film festival, a new SHINE Employee Awards program and a revitalised Health & Wellbeing Program. A range of new Values aligned people policies were also launched covering topics spanning Workplace Behaviour (EEO), Employee Issues Resolution, OHS and Meeting and Email management. The success of these initiatives in 2009 was built on maximum employee involvement, ownership and opportunity for contribution.
Organisational Capability
We are committed to providing employees with access to high value learning opportunities that support the ongoing development of personal skills and knowledge. 2009 saw a substantial strengthening of our learning and development offering with the design and delivery of new programs and the expansion of available online learning options.
Performance & Reward
We believe that success should be celebrated and that quality efforts and outcomes should be appropriately acknowledged and rewarded. Through our employee performance incentive plans employees are rewarded for achieving outcomes that meet or exceed TOWER Australia business objectives, demonstrate the Company's core Values and increase shareholder returns.
Our employee benefits program continues to offer a range of attractive employee benefits including paid parental leave, generous insurance coverage, community days, study and travel assistance schemes, an employee assistance program, special interest events and free access to a well equipped company gym and employee lounge. 2010 will see the launch of our new Employee Share Purchase Plan.
Talent Management
We acknowledge the importance of actively identifying, developing and retaining our high potential and key people talent which is why 2009 saw the further development of our TOWER Australia Talent Management and Mentoring Program.
Building and promoting diversity in our workplace will be a strong theme in 2010 with the launch of a new diversity initiative focusing on identifying and developing greater leadership opportunities for women inside our business.
