BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Robert Thomas

Independent Non-Executive Director Chairman
Mr Thomas was appointed to the TOWER Australia Board in August 2007 and is the Chairman of the Company as well as the Chairman of the Remuneration and Nominations Committee and a member of the Investment Committee.
Mr Thomas has in excess of 35 years experience in the investment and securities industry. He was CEO and subsequently Chairman of Citigroup Australia and New Zealand Corporate and Investment Bank from the late 1990's until his retirement in 2004.
Mr Thomas is presently the nonexecutive Chairman of Heartware International Limited and a nonexecutive Director of Virgin Blue Holdings Limited and O'Connell Street Associates Pty Limited. He is also Chairman of the Stockbrokers Association of Australia and President of the Library Council of New South Wales.
Donald Findlater

Mr Findlater was appointed to the TOWER Australia Board in July 2008 and is the Chairman of the Audit, Compliance and Risk Management Committee.
Mr Findlater was a partner with KPMG for 27 years and has over 40 years of professional audit, accounting and advisory experience with a wide range of Australian financial institutions. Throughout his career at KPMG, Mr Findlater was the APRA approved auditor for a significant number of life and general insurance companies.
Peter Lewinsky

Independent Non-Executive Director
Mr Lewinsky was appointed to the TOWER Australia Board in December 2006 and is a member of the Audit, Compliance and Risk Management Committee and the Remuneration and Nominations Committee.
Mr Lewinsky has been a private consultant to Australian businesses since 1991 and has also provided commercial and management advice to the Victorian and South Australian Governments. He is presently Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Victorian Government's Department of Primary Industries, a member of the Audit Committee of the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development and an independent member of the Risk Committee of the Department of Human Services. Mr Lewinsky is also a Board member of a number of not-for-profit organisations in an honorary capacity.
Ralph Pliner

Independent Non-Executive Director
Mr Pliner was appointed to the TOWER Australia Board in December 2006 and is a member of the Audit, Compliance and Risk Management Committee and the Remuneration and Nominations Committee.
Mr Pliner was a partner at Baker & McKenzie for over 20 years where he was involved in a wide range of corporate and merger and acquisition transactions and also advised a number of Boards of public listed companies. He has been a financial journalist in South Africa and a lecturer in law at Melbourne University.
Mr Pliner is presently the non-executive Chairman of Clean TeQ Holdings Limited and a non-executive Director of Australian Char Pty Limited, Saipem Australia Pty Limited, Herzog Services Australia Pty Limited and Iroko Cardio (Australia) Pty Limited. He is also a Board member of the Public Interest Advocacy Centre Limited, a not-for-profit organization and a facilitator for the Australian Institute of Company Directors in Sydney on Directors duties in the Directors Course.
Elana Rubin

Ms Rubin was appointed to the TOWER Australia Board in November 2007 and is Chair of the Investment Committee and a member of the Audit, Compliance and Risk Management Committee.
Ms Rubin has extensive experience in the superannuation and investments sectors. She is presently Chair of AustralianSuper, the Victorian Rail Track Corporation and the Victorian WorkCover Authority and a non-executive Director of the Transport Accident Commission, Industry Super Property Trust and several not-for-profit organisations.
Takayuki Kotani

Mr Kotani was appointed to the TOWER Australia Group Limited Board in December 2008. Mr Kotani is the General Manager, International Business Management Department of The Dai-ichi Mutual Life Insurance Company. He is responsible for the management of Daiichi Life's entire international business, including new business developments and management of the existing international businesses in Taiwan, Vietnam, India, Thailand, and Australia. Mr Kotani joined Dai-ichi Life in 1982 and has held important positions in both international and domestic planning and research areas.
Tetsuya Kikuta

Non-independent Non-Executive Director
Mr Kikuta was appointed to the TOWER Australia Group Limited Board in December 2008. Mr Kikuta is the Managing Director of Dai-ichi Life International (Asia Pacific) Ltd. He is currently responsible for Dai-ichi Life's business in the Asia-Pacific region with particular focus on the expansion of new business development and was involved in and responsible for all of the Dai-ichi Life's business expansion deals in Taiwan, Vietnam, India, Thailand and Australia. Mr Kikuta joined Dai-ichi Life in April 1987 and has significant experience particularly in the investment area. He has also had six years of experience working for Dai-ichi Life International (U.S.A.) in New York.
Jim Minto

Managing Director
Jim Minto was appointed as the Managing Director of TOWER Australia in November 2006. He was previously Group Managing Director of TOWER Limited overseeing the trans-Tasman TOWER businesses prior to company separating along geographic lines.
A Chartered Accountant, Mr Minto holds a number of other directorships and appointments and has been active in industry bodies throughout his career. He has recently been elected to the Board of the Association of Super Funds of Australia (ASFA).
Mr Minto joined TOWER in New Zealand in 1988 as Managing Director the Group's Trust business. He led several other TOWER businesses in New Zealand before taking up the role of Chief Executive Officer of TOWER Australia in November 2002. In March 2005, he was appointed Group Managing Director of the trans-Tasman TOWER Limited Group until the November 2006 demerger when he took up the TOWER Australia role.
Jim Minto is a strong public advocate for the social importance of the life insurance industry to the people of Australia.
